Guelph Candlelight Vigil Commemorates Montreal Massacre and Women killed in Ontario in 2016

“On December 6th, we come together to remember, reflect and respond to the 14 women who were shot in 1989. We remember those who have been taken from us, we reflect on the prevalence of violence in our communities and we respond to social injustices that perpetuate gender based violence,” says Jessica St. Peter, Public Educator at Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis. “We want a response and we want change! Members of our families, our friends and neighbours continue to be taken. The women victimized by violence are someone’s mother, sister, cousin, aunt, grandmother or daughter. We come together as a community to say that there is no excuse for abuse, and to remember that for many, violence is an all too real part of everyday existence”.

Please join together on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 6:30pm to participate in the vigil.
